Green Estates Gardening provides lawn mowing on Bribie Island, covering Bongaree, Bellara, Banksia Beach, Woorim and Sandstone Point, on fortnightly and monthly rounds at a fixed price per visit. Island lawns sit on pure sand and salt air, so we cut higher, catch clippings and recommend spring and autumn feeding to keep couch and buffalo dense.
Part of our residential lawn mowing service across Moreton Bay and Somerset. This page covers what is different about Bribie Island.
Lawn mowing on Bribie Island: what sand and salt do to a lawn
Bribie's soil drains in minutes and holds almost no nutrient, so a lawn here is only as good as its feeding and its cutting height. Couch, the dominant grass in Bongaree and Bellara, goes thin and pale if it is scalped or starved, and the coastal southerlies burn soft buffalo on exposed corners in Woorim and along Sylvan Beach. We mow higher than inland, 35 to 40 millimetres on couch and 50 plus on buffalo, catch the clippings so they do not blow into the canal or the neighbour's pool, and recommend a slow-release feed in September and March, which we can include in the round.
Banksia Beach and the canal estates have their own quirks: small, immaculate front lawns, a lot of body-corporate common ground, and reticulation that keeps growing the grass through winter when the rest of the island slows down. Those stay on a fortnightly round year-round.
Holiday homes, retirees and rentals
A large share of our Bribie clients are not on the island when we visit. Holiday-house owners in Woorim and Bongaree want the lawn right for guests arriving Friday; retirees in the villas and over-50s communities want a reliable operator who turns up on the day and does not need supervising; property managers need routine mowing and a photo for the file. Every visit ends with a message and a photo, gates are left as we found them, and payment is by transfer or card.
What a Bribie Island mowing visit includes
Mowing at the right height for the grass, edging along footpaths, driveway and kerb, line trimming around fences, retaining walls and beds, clippings caught and removed, and a blow-down of paths and the street frontage. Hedge trimming for the coastal westringia, lilly pilly and bougainvillea screens, garden bed weeding and mulching can be added at a fixed price.
Why Bribie chooses Green Estates
We run Bribie Island and Sandstone Point as one loop on a set day, so the bridge is crossed once and the fixed price reflects an efficient round rather than a special trip. Same crew each visit, no contract, and 5.0 on Google from 23 reviews across Moreton Bay.
Frequently asked questions about lawn mowing in Bribie Island
How often should a lawn be mowed on Bribie Island?
Fortnightly from September to April and every four to six weeks in winter for most Bribie lawns. Reticulated lawns in Banksia Beach and the canal estates keep growing through winter and usually stay fortnightly. On sandy soil the interval depends more on water and feeding than on the calendar.
Do you look after holiday homes and rentals on Bribie?
Yes. Holiday houses in Woorim and Bongaree, villas and over-50s communities, and rentals managed from the mainland are a large part of our Bribie round. You do not need to be there; we mow on a set day, leave gates as we found them and message a photo when the job is done.
What is the best grass for Bribie Island?
Queensland blue couch for open, exposed blocks, and soft-leaf buffalo where there is some shelter from the sea breeze. Both need to be cut higher than inland and fed in spring and autumn, because the island's sand holds very little nutrient. Zoysia is a good low-maintenance option for small front lawns.
Do you cover Sandstone Point and Ningi as well as the island?
Yes. Sandstone Point, Ningi and Godwin Beach are on the same round as Bribie Island, along with Beachmere to the south. We are based in Wamuran and come across via Caboolture, so the whole coastal strip is covered on a set day.
